Job Title: Blood Bank Supervisor

At Great Falls Clinic Hospital, we are committed to providing exceptional care and service to our patients. Our laboratory team is dedicated to delivering high-quality results, and we are seeking a skilled Blood Bank Supervisor to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Blood Bank Supervisor will provide direction, oversight, and guidance for the activities of testing related to the Blood Bank Department within the Great Falls Clinic Hospital laboratory. This includes writing and reviewing departmental procedures, monitoring daily quality control, training of staff technologists, instrument functionality, temperature monitoring, assigning and entering proficiency testing, evaluation and implementation of new instrumentation and procedures as set forth by the laboratory and accrediting agencies.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direction and oversight to the Blood Bank Department
  • Develop and implement departmental procedures and protocols
  • Monitor and maintain quality control and quality assurance programs
  • Train and evaluate staff technologists
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory and accrediting agency regulations
  • Rotate through all departments within the laboratory to maintain proficiency
Requirements:
  • BA/BS Degree in Medical Technology or related field
  • Successful completion of Clinical internship (NAACLS accredited or equivalent)
  • Five years' experience as a registered technologist in an accredited laboratory
  • MT (ASCP) or other nationally recognized registry
  • Current Montana State CLS Certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Advanced knowledge of Transfusion Services department laboratory procedures and operations
  • Advanced knowledge of clinical significance of patient Hematology results
  • Knowledge of regulatory agency requirements
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control regulations and policies
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
  • Ability to organize workload to obtain quality results with optimum productivity
  • Ability to delegate appropriate tasks and work assignments to staff members
  • Ability to evaluate patient and control results for trends, shifts, and other significant changes
  • Ability to analyze data quickly and accurately and to formulate effective approaches to resolve problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other technical and non-technical staff members, physicians, nursing staff, and entities outside of the Great Falls Clinic
