Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in support of the Safety Journey and the Company's goal of achieving an Injury-free Workplace
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and address safety concerns raised by employees
  • Operate the department in compliance with MSHA, Company EHS rules and quality standards

  • Ensure OPI's are completed and actions are taken based on OPI comments
  • Provide supervision, leadership and coaching to employees in area of responsibility

  • Comply with SOI requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all QC requirements (GMP, HACCP, etc) and provide leadership to drive continuous improvements in product quality
  • Maintain high standards for housekeeping and take advantage of available straight time labor resources to manage housekeeping tasks
  • Minimize scrap, waste, or rework from packaging operations
  • Orderly placement of finished product in the warehouse to facilitate stock rotation and minimize damaged finished pallets
  • Accurate reporting of production via the Bar Code System
  • Record accurate loss accounting data (OEE reporting tool)
  • Communicate maintenance, production, quality, & EHS Issues to other Shifts through Shift-Handoff Meeting
  • Ensure parts are withdrawn properly from satellite storerooms and main storeroom when needed
  • Efficient utilization of department mechanics including the development of a weekly schedule
  • Provide vacation relief as necessary
  • Check the accuracy of hourly employees' timecards and the checking of the payroll system for accuracy of the entry as compared to the timecard and making corrections/entries as needed
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience operating in a production packaging environment
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred
Working Conditions

Flexible schedule and overtime may be required. Responds to urgent or emergency situations outside of normal working hours, as needed. Works in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time. May perform sustained manual activities at moderate levels of exertion including lifting and moving loads of up to fifty (50) pounds, climbing ladders / stairs and working on elevated platforms. Works and travels throughout surface plant and underground mine environment of varied temperatures and humidity. Must be capable of wearing all required PPE and must be physically able to access all plant work areas.
