Java Software Engineer

Genesis10 is seeking a skilled Java Software Engineer to drive technology innovation and business solutions for a leading client in Pittsburgh, PA.

This is a 6-month contract position with a competitive hourly rate of $45-55 based on experience.

Job Description:

As a Java Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and implement technology to drive customer and business initiatives. Your role will involve developing, leveraging, and incorporating new technology into the client business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test technologies to improve customer experience, efficiency, and meet business requirements
  • Develop prototypes, tools, and integrations to leverage current technologies and third-party systems and hardware
  • Coordinate systems analysis, systems development, and implementation activities
  • Produce accurate and timely metrics and reports to determine viability of new technology
  • Ability to quickly analyze and communicate the impacts and/or issues with non-IT personnel and vendors
  • Maintain cognizance of industry trends and new products to evaluate opportunities for achieving maximum effective usage of company's investment in Information Technology
  • Recommend and implement technology and process improvements to increase efficiency
  • Prevent unauthorized access to information, assets or restricted areas and report any attempts
  • Report any type of problems to the appropriate management in a timely manner
  • Participate in both daylight and off-hour support rotation
  • Assist in special projects as assigned, other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Systems / Computer Science
  • 5+ years' experience as a software engineer / programmer / developer
  • Strong proficiency in Java programming language
  • Experience with SpringBoot framework
  • Knowledge of RESTful web services and API development
  • Familiarity with database technologies such as SQL or PostgreSQL
  • Understanding of software development principles and methodologies
  • Proficiency in writing unit tests with JUnit and Mockito
  • Familiarity with build tools such as Ant, Maven, and Gradle
  • Agile development / tools (Jira, etc)
  • XML, XSLT, or NAXML
  • DevOps / Azure
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts
  • C#.NET knowledge is a plus but not required
