Range 2 Classroom Educator
Educators at Range 2 play a pivotal role in supporting the school’s efforts to enhance student performance and educational outcomes, as outlined in the school’s strategic plan and state-wide objectives. They contribute to the formulation and execution of school policies and priorities.

A significant aspect of this role involves enhancing the knowledge base of staff regarding student learning and high-quality instructional practices, assisting the school in defining exemplary teaching practices.

Expectations for Range 2 educators include:
- Possessing the content knowledge and pedagogical skills necessary to address the diverse needs of all students
- Demonstrating exemplary classroom practices and mentoring fellow educators to engage in reflective practices and expand their professional capabilities
- Offering expert guidance on content, processes, and strategies that shape individual and school-wide professional development
- Supervising and training one or more student teachers
- Assisting colleagues in utilizing student data to inform instructional strategies aimed at achieving targeted improvements in student learning outcomes.

Range 1 Classroom Educator
The primary focus for Range 1 educators is to further develop their skills and competencies to become effective classroom practitioners, supported by structured guidance from more experienced educators. They are responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering educational programs to achieve specific student outcomes. Range 1 educators teach various student groups and are accountable for the effective implementation of their programs.

Range 1 educators operate under general direction, adhering to established guidelines and documented priorities, and may oversee the training of one or more student teachers. They actively participate in the development of school policies and programs, assisting in the implementation of school priorities.

The emphasis for Range 1 educators is on classroom management, subject matter expertise, and teaching methodologies. New educators in their initial years receive structured support, mentoring, and guidance from more experienced colleagues.

Under supervision, new educators will plan and instruct student groups in one or more subjects and are expected to engage in induction programs and professional development activities designed to integrate curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy across the school.

Range 1 educators are responsible for teaching their own classes and may also contribute to policy development, project teams, and the organization of extracurricular activities.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of a classroom educator may include, but are not limited to:

  • Direct instruction of groups and individual students;
  • Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum areas or other educational programs within the school;
  • Performing other teaching-related and organizational duties as assigned by the School Principal;
  • Participating in activities such as parent-teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps, and excursions;
  • Undertaking non-teaching supervisory duties as required.
