We are seeking a dedicated RN-PACU nurse to provide exceptional care to patients recovering from anesthesia. The ideal candidate will possess a meticulous approach to monitoring and treating patients to ensure a smooth recovery process following surgical procedures.
The PACU is responsible for the care of patients emerging from anesthesia, including those who have undergone general, regional, or local anesthesia. As a qualified RN-PACU nurse, you will engage in comprehensive patient care through vigilant monitoring, assessment, and timely interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients prior to surgical procedures.
- Verify that all necessary consents are properly signed and documented.
- Regularly monitor PACU patients, focusing on vital signs and other critical post-operative indicators.
- Initiate intravenous lines and ensure patient understanding of the procedures.
- Review patient medical histories, noting significant details.
- Execute post-operative tasks, including dressing changes and medication administration.
- Address patient inquiries and maintain comfort levels.
- Observe patients for any changes in condition and communicate findings to the physician.
- Act swiftly in the event of post-operative emergencies.
- Provide guidance to patients and their families regarding home recovery, including dietary and activity restrictions.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.
