Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and Implement Safety Policies: Assist the Director of Safety and Risk Management in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  2. Conduct Site Inspections: Participate in daily construction jobsite inspections to identify and correct unsafe conditions and work practices.
  3. Project-Level Safety Oversight: Oversee the implementation of safety programs at the project level, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  4. Meetings and Training: Attend and lead weekly site safety meetings and pre-task planning meetings with subcontractors, providing guidance on best practices and industry regulations.
  5. Stay Current with Industry Developments: Regularly attend industry training sessions to stay up-to-date on best practices and emerging trends in safety and environmental compliance.
  6. Accident Investigations: Assist in investigating accidents to determine causal factors and implement corrective actions.
  7. Performance Metrics: Prepare statistical information to measure project safety performance and identify areas for improvement.
  8. Additional Responsibilities: Perform other safety-related duties as assigned by the Director of Safety and Risk Management.

Requirements:

  1. Education and Certification: Associate Degree in Environmental Health & Safety or equivalent combination of experience, including a CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification from the BCSP.
  2. Experience: A minimum of 7-10 years in construction at the foreman level or above.
  3. Skills and Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills, self-motivation, and ability to work independently.
  4. Additional Requirements: 3-5 years of direct experience in construction safety.
