About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Pathologist to join our team at the University of Minnesota's Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL). As a key member of our diagnostic team, you will be responsible for providing expert diagnostic support to cases submitted to the VDL, delivering comprehensive diagnostic case information to livestock producers, veterinarians, and other animal health professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide diagnostic pathology support to cases submitted to the VDL
  • Develop close relationships with food animal veterinarians and producers to maintain and improve the health of their herds
  • Assist with routine disease/health monitoring and in-depth case investigations
  • Interact, communicate, and collaborate with practicing veterinarians and other stakeholders in animal agriculture
  • Participate in the teaching mission of the College of Veterinary Medicine and establish a collaborative applied research program in areas such as virology, infectious disease epidemiology, diagnosis, pathogenesis, control, and eradication
Requirements
  • DVM or equivalent degree
  • At least two years of experience in food animal diagnostics
  • Experience and ability to work with culturally diverse groups of people and excellent communication skills
  • Board certification or eligibility by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) or European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP) preferred
