Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate RN - PACU Nurse to join our team at EvergreenHealth. As a key member of our Peri-Anesthesia Care Unit, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to patients recovering from surgery.

Responsibilities
  • Perform pre-operative nursing assessments by telephone and act as Admitting Nurse pre-operatively
  • Admit patients from the Operating Room and receive the report from the anesthesia personnel, assessing and planning for the recovery of patients from surgery
  • Initiate any necessary treatment for the full recovery of the patient and administer and record any necessary medication
  • Assess the condition of patients and transfer them to secondary rooms when they meet standards for transfer according to Evergreen Surgical Center policies and procedures
  • Supervise Recovery Room Assistants when caring for patients in Secondary Recovery Rooms
  • Perform discharge procedures according to ESC policies and procedures
  • Perform morning and evening narcotic counts following ESC policies and procedures
  • Admit cataract patients to recovery rooms pre-operatively and prepare them for their local blocks and I.V starts
  • Assist surgeons with local blocks and monitor patients until they go to the Operating Room
  • Communicate all relevant information to immediate supervisors effectively and in a timely manner
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required within 5 years of employment if applicable
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington
  • Minimum of one year experience within the last 3 years of care delivery in a monitored care area: PACU, or ICU
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification by date of hire
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS by date of hire
  • Completion of unit competencies for peri-anesthesia care within probationary period or first 2 months if an employee transfer
  • Proficiency in airway management/adjuncts
  • Proficiency with IV skills and techniques
  • Ability to identify EKG rhythms and related necessary interventions
  • Understanding of Pain Management and related pharmacology
  • Understanding of Cardiac and emergency medication pharmacology
  • PALS or ENPC within 6 months of hire
