Position Overview:
The Department of Veterans Affairs is actively seeking a full-time, Board Certified/Board Eligible Psychiatrist to enhance our Mental Health Services. This role focuses on delivering care to an adult psychiatric demographic with a variety of conditions, including major affective disorders, psychotic disorders, PTSD, and substance use disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive treatment to patients with diverse psychiatric diagnoses.
- Engage in routine treatments and procedures such as basic medication management and general outpatient psychiatric practice.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including Mental Health Primary Care, Behavioral Health Lab, Consultation Liaison Team, and Intensive Outpatient Programs.
Department Structure:
- The Mental Health Service comprises 2 Psychiatry Full-Time Equivalent (FTEE) providers, 2 Registered Nurses dedicated to medication management, and 3 administrative support staff.
- Tele-mental health equipment is available for minimal use, with opportunities to supervise Nurse Practitioners managing stable patients.
Work Schedule:
- Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
- There is no on-call requirement, as psychologists and social workers handle call duties.
Patient Care Expectations:
- Aim for 1 hour for initial consultations and 30 minutes for follow-up appointments, with an anticipated caseload of 15-20 patients daily.
