Job Summary
The Principal CSA Engineer will be responsible for evaluating alternatives and developing the scope of projects for various strategic partners, in a professional, cost and time efficient manner. This role will involve writing and executing project proposals and communicating project results to the Covestro CSA Leads and Project Managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Support projects for the various Covestro business entities, including the development of project proposals and execution of project plans.
- Supervise CSA designers assigned to projects/tasks, ensuring timely completion of assignments within priorities established by the CSA Team and Project Managers.
- Identify and/or respond to requests from Plant Operations personnel and Project Managers, providing engineering solutions to design-related problems.
- Responsible for scope definition/control for plant modifications, small to XL-size projects as appropriate, and mentoring junior engineers.
- Ensure timely completion of assignments within priorities established by the CSA Team and Project Managers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural engineering and at least 8 years of related experience in chemical, oil & gas or process industries OR;
- Master's degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural engineering and at least 6 years of related experience in chemical, oil & gas or process industries;
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required;
- The eligibility to apply for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within a reasonable timeframe.
Preferred Qualifications
- Construction administration experience;
Knowledge & Skills:
- Excellent knowledge of industry codes and standards;
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, S3D, Smartsketch and SPR is preferred;
- Ability to perform field work, basic surveying, and inspection work in process areas;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills;
- Attention to detail and accuracy;
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines is a must for this position.
