Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Optometrist to join our Specialty team at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO. As an Optometrist, you will provide quality care, consultation, education, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide Optometry care in the outpatient eye clinic for adult and geriatric veterans with a wide spectrum of optometric conditions.
  • Exercise independent professional judgment in diagnosing complex optometric conditions and planning treatment programs.
  • Utilize various examination techniques to determine the presence of vision anomalies, diseases, and/or other abnormalities.
  • Prescribe and adapt spectacle lenses, optical aids, and refer patients to other health professionals as needed.
  • Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families during treatment interventions.
  • Manage patient workload within available staffing and coordinate care with VA's tertiary care facilities and VA sharing partners.
Requirements
  • United States Citizenship
  • Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited institution
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States
  • Proficient in spoken and written English
Preferred Experience

Minimum of 2-3 years experience practicing in either a VA setting or in a private Optometric clinic setting.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
