Job Overview

Mercer Transportation is seeking a skilled Facilities HVAC Service Lead to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and maintain tests, installations, and repairs of commercial air conditioning equipment, including air conditioners, compressors, condensers, pumps, control systems, and chilled water systems.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, detect and replace defective control modules, test and make adjustments.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, O.E.M. instructions, and specifications.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including parts used and hours worked.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, addressing their concerns and providing expert advice on HVAC systems.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality service and resolving any issues promptly.
  • Estimate jobs/projects, specify parts and materials as needed.
  • Plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of equipment.
  • Install, start up, and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
  • Stay updated on the latest HVAC technologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Inform management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved.
  • Ensure all assigned daily and special tasks are completed as scheduled.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • HVAC Journeyman license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • At least 5 years of facilities maintenance experience, with a minimum of 6 months in a commercial or production setting.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Ability to independently manage daily, weekly, and monthly tasks, including preventive maintenance (PMs).
  • Strong communication abilities, including phone and email etiquette.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong focus on accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks.
  • Excellent safety record with a solid understanding of safe work practices.

Work Environment:

  • Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Visual Acuity; ability to see and hear within normal parameters, use hands and fingers to use keyboard and mouse when required by essential functions of position.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
