Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training Program

Elderwood at Wheatfield is offering a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training Program designed to provide individuals with the skills and experience needed to succeed in a rewarding career in healthcare.

Program Overview

This program is designed for individuals who are passionate about helping others and looking to start a career in healthcare. The program provides insight into the direct care role by providing the opportunity to work alongside our clinicians, completing tasks for our resident population as Support Aides.

Training and Certification

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training Track provides a comprehensive training program that includes:

  • Classroom training for two weeks
  • Clinical training for one week

Upon completion of the training program, individuals will be eligible to take the CNA certification exam. Elderwood will pay for the CNA certification test as well as any applicable onboarding requirements.

Upon successful completion of the training program, individuals will be employed as Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and will have the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, including long-term care facilities and hospitals.

Responsibilities

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), individuals will be responsible for:

  • Transporting residents or accompanying ambulatory residents to various locations in the building
  • Making unoccupied resident beds
  • Assisting in the Dining Room with food service to residents
  • Distributing supplemental nourishments to residents
  • Conducting informal activities on the nursing unit
  • Supplying fresh water in resident's rooms
  • Preparing bed and bedwear of resident's at hour of sleep
  • Helping keep general areas of the assigned nursing unit neat and orderly
  • Cleaning resident's equipment
  • Keeping the rooms of residents orderly
  • Notifying therapist of any unusual incidents regarding residents
Qualifications

To be eligible for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training Program, individuals must:

  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have a valid employment certificate or permit (for 16-17 year olds)
  • Have no findings or convictions of resident abuse, mistreatment, and misappropriation of property through any current or previous licensing agency
  • Be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level
