Job Description
General Purpose of Job:
To provide high-quality anesthesia care to patients in a variety of settings, including clinic and operating room environments.
Essential Duties:
- Obtain and evaluate patient health history, including biophysical and psychosocial data.
- Conduct physician screening assessments and recommend or request diagnostic studies as needed.
- Select, obtain, or administer pre-anesthetic medications and document the pre-anesthetic evaluation and obtain informed consent for anesthesia.
- Obtain, prepare, or utilize equipment, monitors, supplies, and drugs used for anesthesia administration and perform safety checks as needed.
- Select, obtain, or administer anesthetics, adjutant drugs, accessory drugs, and fluids necessary to manage anesthesia and maintain patient physiologic homeostasis.
- Perform tracheal intubation and extubation and provide mechanical ventilation.
- Manage regional anesthetic techniques, including subarachnoid, epidural, and caudal blocks, and provide consultation and implementation of respiratory and ventilatory care.
- Initiate and modify pain relief therapy using drugs, regional anesthetic techniques, or other accepted pain relief modalities.
- Select or prescribe medication and treatment modalities related to peri-anesthetic care, with consultation or collaboration when appropriate.
Requirements:
- Current Michigan RN license and CRNA Specialty Certification
- ACLS certification required within six months of hire
- Graduate from a nurse anesthesia education program accredited by the AANA Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor
