The Lead Therapist will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the therapy department, supervising therapy staff, and coordinating RUG management. The secondary responsibility is patient care.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in rehabilitation services, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures that rehabilitation services are provided in compliance with Vertis and facility policies and procedures.
- Coordinates resident screening programs.
- Serves as advocate for meeting the rehabilitation needs of residents.
- Coordinates attendance at care plan and departmental meetings.
- Acts as a liaison between therapy department, administrator, and nursing staff.
- Ensures accurate and timely month-end billing.
- Coordinates therapist schedules and arranges prn staffing as needed.
- Communicates PT/OT/SLP schedules and changes to administration and nursing staff.
- Coordinates the execution of the Restorative Program with nursing staff and therapy department.
- Prepares the Rehab Department for a deficiency-free State Survey and acts as department representative during the survey process.
- Trains staff in Vertis and facility policies and procedures.
- Assists in identifying therapy needs of resident population.
- Leads therapy team in implementing clinical programs.
- Effectively communicates pertinent information from Vertis management and facility management to therapy team.
- Assists Regional Manager in Performance Reviews, applicant interview process, and disciplinary actions.
- Assists Regional Manager in the orientation of new employees and contract therapists.
- Supports team development by encouraging individual growth, recognizing accomplishments, and providing a positive work environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Regional Manager.
Requirements:
- Associate of Science degree in Physical Therapy Assistant or Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Current license/certification in the state of Indiana.
- Minimum one (1) year experience in rehabilitation setting serving the same age/type of patient population served by this facility.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
