Job Summary:

As a Diesel Mechanic at Student Transportation of America, you will be responsible for performing complex operations on large commercial vehicles, including engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust repairs. You will work closely with the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to ensure that all maintenance operations are completed on schedule and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform thorough, accurate preventative maintenance inspections to identify potential issues before they become major problems.
• Complete all required maintenance operations, including lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustments, and tire rotation, following established schedules and procedures.
• Perform unscheduled maintenance as needed, working with the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to prioritize tasks and ensure timely completion.
• Conduct complex repairs and field tests, interpreting and working from drawings, specifications, and other technical materials.
• Provide emergency roadside services as needed, responding to breakdowns and other issues in a timely and professional manner.
• Inspect equipment and diagnose mechanical defects, documenting repairs and parts on work orders completely and accurately.
• Maintain tools and workplaces in a neat and orderly condition, adhering to safety protocols and company standards.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic or mechanic, with a strong background in heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
• Accreditation from a school or certification program, such as ASE certification, is preferred.
• Ability to pass a background check and maintain a clean driving record.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.
