Surgical Technologist

Job Summary

The Surgical Technologist is a vital member of the surgical team at Decatur County Memorial Hospital. This role requires a high level of skill and attention to detail to ensure the safety and well-being of patients during surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room for surgery, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
• Assist the surgeon and other medical staff during surgical procedures, maintaining a safe and sterile environment.
• Care for patients during surgery, providing emotional support and ensuring their comfort and safety.
• Maintain and clean surgical instruments and equipment, adhering to strict infection control protocols.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; graduate of an accredited surgical technology training program preferred.
• Experience in a hospital setting preferred, with a strong medical background and willingness to obtain certification.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills, with the ability to learn other software used throughout the hospital.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required; Surgical Technologist certification preferred but not required.

Work Environment

This role requires constant standing, walking, and use of hands and fingers, as well as frequent reaching, squatting, kneeling, bending, lifting, and carrying of equipment and supplies. The ability to work non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends, is essential.
