Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Job Description

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at University of Maryland Medical Center - Midtown Campus. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Perform quality diagnostic ultrasound procedures by protocol and approved procedure, operating sophisticated ultrasound equipment.
  • Operate technical ultrasound equipment and supplies sound waves to patients in accordance with standard operating procedures and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Position patients according to department's procedure manual, assisting patients onto examining tables as appropriate.
  • Develop sonograms by automatic processing, critiquing sonograms for quality and accuracy, and forwarding film to Film Library for reading preparation.
  • Recognize and respond to emergency situations by utilizing CPR, or contacting radiology, nursing, or medical personnel.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an AMA and/or CAAHP approved school of Ultrasound Technology.
  • Registered in Abdominal or Obstetrics and Gynecology, or eligible for registry by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • One year of experience performing diagnostic ultrasound studies is preferred.
