Job Description

SoCal Detox is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant/Certified Nurse Assistant to join our team in providing exceptional care to our residents. As a Medical Assistant/Certified Nurse Assistant, you will be responsible for the shift-by-shift supervision of the resident milieu and attending to residents' essential needs while on detoxification and residential protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with admissions of residents, including orientation, intake assessment, urine screen, medication management, protocols, and recurring assessments.
  • Conduct 30-minute respiration checks on all residents per policy and procedure.
  • Adhere to Joint Commission and DHCS resident care standards.
  • Communicate with physicians and follow physician orders in overseeing resident medication management.
  • Proficiently document in KIPU Systems resident management software.
  • Document residents' daily progress/shift notes.
  • Establish a consistent presence and awareness of resident behavior.
  • Enforce policies and procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the facility and environment of care.
  • Facilitate program activities and maintain resident schedules.
  • Recurring assessment, interaction, observation, and documentation of residents.
  • Accurate documentation with minimal error as it pertains to medication management, vital signs, and COWS/CIWA assessments.
  • Communicate thoroughly and accurately verbally and via shift notes to ensure continuity of high-quality care.
  • Participate in shift change with oncoming staff.
  • Crisis Intervention.
  • Conduct resident discharge/transition, returning resident personal items, logging, and following destruction of medication procedures.
  • Accept feedback and direction from management and peers.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Minimum High School Graduate or GED.
  • Medical Assistant or Nurse Assistant Certification.
  • 1-2 years' experience in substance abuse treatment or equivalent human services work experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in detox environment highly desired.

Work Environment:

Work is performed during day and night shifts primarily in residential detox facilities. This includes work in facility office as well as the grounds of the entire facility, including upstairs resident rooms, clinical office, and laundry room that are accessed via staircase, and outdoor grounds.

Blood/Fluid Exposure Risk:

Some job tasks involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissue. Staff must wear gloves and follow infectious control procedures when interacting with residents in conditions in which exposure is possible.
