Job Summary: The Department of Veteran Affairs is seeking a licensed Optometrist to join our team at the Community-Based Outpatient Clinic in Springfield, MO. As an Optometrist with the VA, you will have the opportunity to provide high-quality eye care services to our nation's heroes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive eye care services, including follow-up care of existing conditions and management of emergency conditions.
- Examine the human eye to diagnose and treat abnormal conditions of the human eye or adnexa.
- Prescribe lenses, devices containing lenses, prisms, contact lenses, orthotics, vision training, pharmaceutical agents, and prosthetic devices to correct, relieve, or treat defects or abnormal conditions of the human eye or its adnexa.
- Refer to and consult with other healthcare providers as needed.
- Educate patients, residents, students, and medical staff regarding ocular anomalies, ocular disease, and sight conservation.
- Participate in the clinical supervision of optometry residents and student externs if available.
