Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient care and treatment
  • Restrain and handle animals of various species for examination and treatment
  • Take vital signs, including weights and temperatures
  • Use radiology software to manage medical records and submit studies for review
  • Assist with laboratory procedures, including running in-house laboratory specimens and recording results
  • Prepare laboratory forms and specimens for out-of-office laboratories
  • Administer treatments, including medications and injections, under the direction of a veterinarian or veterinary technician
  • Monitor anesthetized patients and assist with post-operative care
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Veterinary assistant certification preferred
  • At least one year of experience in animal care or a related field
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Basic math and writing skills
  • Ability to express compassion and empathy for animals and their owners
