Job Summary

To provide a safe and healthy environment for all students and staff, the successful candidate will be responsible for treating student injuries and illnesses, and advising students, their parents, and staff on health-related issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing assessment, intervention, and documentation for students
  • Administer medications and provide individual health instructions
  • Complete, process, and follow up on accident reports with students and staff
  • Maintain reports of all incidents, injuries, and other health problems
  • Communicate with parents regarding health-related incidents
  • Supervise compliance with immunization and communicable disease regulations
  • Provide emergency aid to students and staff as needed
  • Plan and implement school health management protocols and procedures
  • Provide school staff with current information about students' health concerns and care on a confidential and need-to-know basis
  • Follow district policy relative to delinquent physicals and immunizations
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality regarding a student's health and medical information per state and federal laws
  • Manage and monitor reports of communicable diseases
  • Run an organized, efficient, and effective health office
  • Complete mandated state health reports
Requirements
  • Educator Licensure with a concentration in School Nursing; BA Degree
  • Current RN license, AED Certified
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • IDPH vision and hearing certified preferred
