Position Overview:
As the Student Engagement Coordinator, you will be an integral part of the Student Engagement team. Your contributions will be essential in designing and executing a student-focused program that enriches campus life, encourages leadership growth, and aligns with the institution's mission and strategic objectives.
This position is ideal for individuals eager to advance their careers in student affairs and campus programming. If you have a background in outdoor retail and are excited to integrate that passion into a university environment, we invite you to consider this opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Life and Campus Activities (40%):
- Design, implement, and oversee a range of campus events and initiatives that foster a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for all students.
- Act as the Primary Advisor for the Campus Activities Board, guiding and supporting student-led programming initiatives.
- Lead the organization of special events.
- Collaborate with campus partners and university personnel to ensure successful event execution.
Staff Supervision and Development (30%):
- Recruit, train, and supervise members of the Campus Activities Board, as well as the Campus Recreation Outdoor Adventures and Special Events teams.
- Oversee and mentor graduate assistants and student employees in student lounge areas, providing ongoing training and professional development.
- Conduct performance evaluations to promote staff growth and effective program delivery.
Program Development (10%):
- Encourage a strong sense of community among students by creating inclusive and engaging environments that promote networking and collaboration.
- Ensure that all programs and activities are accessible to a diverse student population.
Administrative and Risk Management (15%):
- Develop and enforce policies related to event management and campus safety, ensuring a positive and secure environment for all students.
- Manage budgets for your functional area and analyze data to assess the impact of student programs and services.
- Participate in University Committees and assist with broader university programming and events.
Other Duties (5%):
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Campus Engagement and New Student Programs or the Vice President of Student Experience and Quality Assurance.
