Position Overview:
The Senior Electrical Project Engineer oversees the comprehensive electrical engineering responsibilities for designated projects. This role encompasses all stages of an electrical engineering initiative, including conceptualization, research, cost estimation, component selection, network architecture, panel design, device arrangement, troubleshooting, programming, in-house testing, on-site implementation, commissioning, and post-sales support.

A successful candidate will possess an expert-level understanding of electrical engineering principles, practices, and programming, ensuring the effective execution of projects from inception to completion. This individual will formulate the project execution strategy, delegate tasks to team members, track and report on progress, devise recovery plans, and manage any deviations from the plan. The Senior Electrical Project Engineer acts as the subject matter expert (SME) for the project team, providing mentorship and guidance. Collaborating with the Electrical Engineering Leadership team, this role aims for ongoing enhancements in departmental processes while utilizing the latest technologies and industry best practices throughout project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage, and uphold project timelines.
  • Assign daily responsibilities to project team members.
  • Interpret and comprehend project scope from contractual documents and schematics.
  • Effectively convey project, departmental, and organizational requirements to team members and stakeholders.
  • Ensure successful project completion with a focus on safety, quality, timelines, and budget.
  • Engage in the design of comprehensive control systems, including power distribution, device layout, network architecture, and component selection.
  • Participate in the programming of control systems, both HMI and PLC.
  • Draft Descriptions of Operations for complete systems.
  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, executive leadership, clients, and potential clients.
  • Contribute to the commissioning of complete control systems.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and collaborate with management to implement these enhancements.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced proficiency in multiple programming languages and control device networks for PLCs, with a strong aptitude for learning new systems.
  • Ability to interpret and develop designs that comply with electrical design standards and project specifications.
  • Capability to identify and rectify errors in diagrams, using these instances as training opportunities to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated with robust analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel to client locations as necessary and work outside of standard business hours based on project demands.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Computer Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in the electrical engineering sector or a related field.
  • 6+ years in the Material Handling Industry, ideally within Baggage Handling.
  • 2+ years of experience as an Electrical Project Engineer.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to obtain necessary security clearances.

Salary Range:
$110,000 - $140,000 per year
