Essential Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent educational credentials as specified in the job requirements.
  • Skills and experience appropriate for the role.
  • Proximity to the client institution or a willingness to relocate.
  • Authorization to live and work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a public middle school environment is advantageous.
  • Experience with a constructivist, project-oriented teaching methodology is preferred.
  • Experience engaging with students from diverse backgrounds and abilities, including English learners and students with disabilities.
  • Familiarity with backward design in lesson planning is preferred.
  • A commitment to maintaining high expectations and utilizing assessments to inform differentiated instruction.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a robust drive for success.
  • Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable.
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with others.
  • A valid California teaching credential, specifically a single subject science credential with an EL authorization.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize established planning frameworks to create and enhance curriculum maps, culminating projects, rubrics, units, and lessons aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
  • Foster a structured and positive classroom environment that encourages learning and a sense of belonging for all students.
  • Build positive and caring relationships with students and school community members.
  • Design and implement standards-based instruction that promotes critical thinking, student engagement, and includes supports for learners at various levels.
  • Collect and analyze data to tailor instruction to meet the academic and social needs of individual students, aiming for grade-level proficiency.
  • Engage in professional development activities, including curriculum refinement, grade-level meetings, departmental meetings, and regular coaching sessions.
  • Participate in a paid summer institute focused on curriculum development to support the school’s mission and objectives.
  • Exhibit professionalism by meeting deadlines and maintaining effective communication with supervisors, colleagues, families, and students.
  • Collaborate with grade-level and departmental teams, as well as special education/resource and English language development educators, to ensure rigor, alignment, and equitable access to learning.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $57,069 - $96,922
