Overview

The Laboratory Facilities Supervisor is integral to the effective management and seamless operation of laboratory environments within the Facilities Division. This role encompasses the oversight of daily functions, maintenance of laboratory apparatus, adherence to safety regulations, and responsiveness to the evolving requirements of laboratory staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee activities and initiatives within laboratory settings; maintain comprehensive records for all operations and programs; provide technical assistance for laboratory instruments, materials, and analytical tools.
  • Collaborate with all laboratory stakeholders, including Lab Managers, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Facilities Management, Program Managers, and Occupancy Planning.
  • Ensure compliance with Lab Safety Standards, Chemical Hygiene Standards, and Management of Change Standards.
  • Facilitate new laboratory requests and work alongside Lab Managers to propose viable solutions.
  • Manage relationships with laboratory teams and enhance familiarity with ongoing activities.
  • Maintain a Lab Equipment Inventory Database in collaboration with Facilities Management and Lab Owners.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, annual inspections, and compliance checks.
  • Establish and monitor budgetary requirements for laboratory expansion.
  • Oversee the procurement of new furniture and equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure safety and compliance with established protocols.
  • Develop and implement training programs for laboratory personnel, focusing on safe practices and equipment handling.
  • Monitor laboratory performance and provide constructive feedback to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Engage in strategic planning for future laboratory needs based on current utilization and anticipated growth.
  • Manage the laboratory budget, including expense forecasting and tracking.
  • Prepare detailed reports on laboratory operations and performance metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as science, laboratory technology, or engineering.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a laboratory environment.
  • Proven expertise in laboratory operations and management.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency in laboratory management software and data analysis tools.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $125,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
