Lead Counsel for Workers' Compensation Defense

Zenith Insurance is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Defense Attorney to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will be responsible for defending the company in various courts of law and providing expert advice on case handling strategies and tactics.
Key Responsibilities- Defend Workers' Compensation Cases: Handle complex cases under the state administrative process, including trial-level cases, and defend workers' compensation claims.
- Conduct Legal Research: Perform thorough legal research at all levels, from advising clients to appellate procedures, to provide expert advice on case handling strategies and tactics.
- Represent the Company: Represent Zenith Insurance in appearances at hearings and conferences, and prepare and file related reports.
- Provide Training and Advice: Provide training and recommendations on case handling strategies and tactics to representatives of the Claims department.
- Collaborate with Team Members: Work closely with other team members to ensure effective case management and resolution.
- Juris Doctorate: A Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and membership in good standing of the State Bar.
- Experience: 4+ years of experience as a Trial Attorney for legal defense of workers' compensation claims.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
- Training and Development: Experience in training small groups in current legal practices and procedures in the field of workers' compensation defense and subrogation.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift legal files, including documents and exhibits, up to a weight of 15 pounds.
- Travel: Willingness and ability to travel using all means of public transportation, as well as automobile driving, to various California venues when live appearances are requested or required.
- Driver's License: Valid Driver's License in good standing.
Zenith Insurance offers a competitive salary range of $128,689.07 to $160,000, adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law.
