Job Title:

Adjunct Instructor of Voice

Job Summary:

The Tennessee Board of Regents is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Instructor of Voice to join our team. As an Adjunct Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching individual voice lessons and/or introduction to music courses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach individual voice lessons for 1 credit and 2 credit sections for both majors and non-majors.
  • Prepare course syllabi, course materials, evaluate student learning, and maintain class records.
  • Work with other music faculty in scheduling juries and auditions.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree with a minimum of 18 credit hours in Music or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in vocal pedagogy.
  • Experience with vocal performance.
  • Evidence of demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the comprehensive community college philosophy.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Teaching competence in the field of music with strong communication skills with students and faculty.
  • Empowers and motivates students to learn effectively.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills are essential.
  • Attends all faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development, and orientation activities.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
  • Participates in departmental and college committees; and provides outreach service to the community.
  • Works effectively with other faculty and administrators within the department, the division, and the college to provide well-developed courses and programs of study.
Work Environment:

The office environment is temperature controlled with occasional fluctuations, well lit, and free from loud noises and unnecessary interruptions. Could be exposed to varying weather conditions when traveling.

Physical Demands:
  • Large amounts of time spent looking at computer monitors could lead to some eye strain, stress, or headache issues.
  • Operation of standard office equipment including copier and fax machine.
  • Repetitive stress injuries could occur.
  • Travel to local areas may be required.
