Clinical Postdoctoral Associate Position

The Counseling and Wellness Center at the University of Florida is seeking a Clinical Postdoctoral Associate to join our team. As a Clinical Postdoctoral Associate, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff, providing counseling services, assessment, and crisis intervention. You will also have the chance to develop your skills in a variety of areas, including individual and cultural diversity competency, intensive support, alcohol and other drugs prevention and intervention, and psychological assessment. Our training program is committed to cultivating an atmosphere that is conducive to learning, providing clinical postdoctoral associates with an appropriate blend of support and challenge. You will be expected to fulfill the multiple roles of a university counseling center clinician, including counseling services, assessment, crisis intervention, referral, consultation, outreach, supervision of student trainees, participation in staff meetings and training seminars, and timely completion of necessary administrative functions. You will receive 2 hours of face-to-face individual supervision weekly and will be provided with various professional development opportunities. The 12-month 2000-hour position has been designed to meet the requirements for licensure in the State of Florida. Salary is $62,000 for 12 months. About the Counseling and Wellness Center
The Counseling and Wellness Center is a vibrant, multidisciplinary, diverse, and creative center, actively engaged in the advancement of compassionate psychological services, outreach, and training. We are a dynamic part of the Division of Student Life and are highly utilized by students and other campus constituents seeking a variety of mental health services. Our staff consists of 57 counselors in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, social work, and counselor education. In addition, the psychiatry staff of the Student Health Care Center is available for collaboration and consultation. We are committed to cultivating an atmosphere that is conducive to learning, providing clinical postdoctoral associates with an appropriate blend of support and challenge.
Responsibilities
As a Clinical Postdoctoral Associate, you will be responsible for providing counseling services, assessment, and crisis intervention to students, faculty, and staff. You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills in a variety of areas, including individual and cultural diversity competency, intensive support, alcohol and other drugs prevention and intervention, and psychological assessment. You will be expected to fulfill the multiple roles of a university counseling center clinician, including counseling services, assessment, crisis intervention, referral, consultation, outreach, supervision of student trainees, participation in staff meetings and training seminars, and timely completion of necessary administrative functions.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must have a doctoral degree from an APA or CPA accredited program in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, or counseling related field. You must also be license-eligible as a psychologist (or licensed as a psychologist) and have completed an APA accredited doctoral internship in health service psychology. Preferred qualifications include experience and skill for working in college mental health, administrative and computer application skills, demonstrated skills in working well under pressure, collaborative spirit, sensitivity and commitment to individual and cultural diversity, self-motivated and self-directed commitment to high professional ideals, standards, and ethics, strong communication and interpersonal skills, critical thinking, and organizational skills, knowledge of applicable laws and ethics pertaining to psychology and mental health in Florida, and demonstrated ability to supervise trainees.
