Position Overview

The Biomedical Technician II (BMET II) is responsible for the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and performance verification of sophisticated biomedical devices with minimal oversight. The ideal candidate will be proficient in utilizing all necessary testing equipment and tools essential for these tasks. Additionally, the BMET II may act as a technical consultant to medical and clinical personnel regarding the safe operation and utilization of clinical apparatus. This role also involves assisting in the formulation of specifications for the procurement of new clinical devices. The individual is expected to exemplify TriMedx's core values in all professional engagements by demonstrating respect, creating genuine value, initiating significant improvements, and upholding integrity.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Services - 40%

  • Conduct performance assurance inspections, scheduled maintenance, electrical safety inspections, and operational verification procedures on complex biomedical equipment.
  • Repair, install, and calibrate intricate biomedical devices.
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding the status of repairs, scheduled inspections, unusual equipment conditions, and any client concerns.
  • Oversee and document the activities of subcontractors, vendors, and external service technicians to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Maintain biomedical expertise through continuous training and education.
  • Participate in Service Operations Special Projects as assigned.

Regulatory Compliance - 25%

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database, including inventory, performance assurance schedules, nomenclature, and service history.
  • Comply with the Medical Equipment Management Plan, including all regulatory agency requirements and applicable policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all service and documentation are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Account Relationship Management - 25%

  • Establish and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Discuss equipment status and functionality with clinical staff.
  • Adhere to the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organizations served.
  • Represent TriMedx services positively by integrating core values into job performance.

Inventory Management - 10%

  • Conduct periodic assessments of current inventory status.
  • Verify the completion of security analyses for new customer equipment.
  • Perform Incoming Inspections to maintain a complete and accurate inventory of medical devices, including trial, evaluation, rental, and loaner equipment, in addition to permanently assigned inventory.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the equipment database.
  • Provide recommendations regarding inventory management.

Additional Duties

Perform all other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficient computer skills, including system administration, error code interpretation, hard drive defragmentation, power supply replacement, and computer code interpretation.
  • Ability to synthesize information from diverse sources.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service abilities.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license is required; travel may be necessary based on business needs.

Education and Experience

  • A two-year degree in a technical or electronics field or equivalent experience is required. This requirement may be waived for candidates with TRIMEDX Trained Certification or equivalent biomedical certification.
  • Technical Certification (CBET) is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering setting is required.
  • Travel may be required based on customer or business needs.
