Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Automation Supervisor to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our Facilities Management department, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of Building Automation Controls Technicians, ensuring the efficient operation of campus energy management systems and associated equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of Building Automation Controls Technicians
  • Make hiring selections, ensure proper training, and assign schedules
  • Direct technicians in the installation, repair, and programming of campus energy management systems and associated equipment
  • Perform administrative duties to manage department workload and assignments
  • Maintain recordkeeping of materials and submit timecards for accurate labor charges
  • Determine standards for employee performance and evaluate employee performance
  • Work with the Campus Energy Manager to ensure building automation systems operate to maximize energy conservation efforts
  • Lead the implementation of energy conservation projects on campus in collaboration with the Campus Energy Manager
Qualifications
  • Solid knowledge and skills in building automation technology
  • Solid supervisory skills, including organization, scheduling, and assigning work
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pneumatic and DDC control components and scenarios
  • Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and calibrate control components
  • Skills to actively promote and maintain safety standards
  • Solid skills to effectively select and evaluate staff, and to handle disciplinary issues
  • Ability to perform maintenance, installation, and programming of software and field panels for Siemens, Johnson Controls, and Niagara
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience/training
  • Certification in a specialty skilled trade required
  • 5 years of experience in building automation technology
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience maintaining and configuring Phoenix venturi valves and Aircuity centralized demand control ventilation systems
  • 3 or more years of experience in management, leadership, or other supervisory roles
