Emergency Physicians, Professional Association offers a unique opportunity for individuals to gain valuable experience in healthcare documentation and data entry. As a Clinical Scribe Associate, you will work one-on-one with emergency physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, accompanying them into each patient encounter.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be proficient in typing at 60 wpm or higher, and have a strong understanding of medical terminology. Experience in healthcare-related work, direct patient care, volunteering, shadowing, or undergraduate research is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurate and timely charting of patient encounters, including patient history, physical exams, diagnostic findings, lab and test results, consultations, treatment course, diagnoses, and discharge instructions.
  • Professional interaction with patients, providers, hospital staff, and other co-workers.
  • Compliance with hospital, HIPAA, and Emergency Physicians, Professional Association policies regarding confidentiality of patient information.
  • Excellent job attendance, with scribes held to the same attendance standards as the providers they work alongside.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate program with pre-medical/science coursework and labs, or completed an undergraduate degree with professional school science pre-requisites and labs.
  • Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Prior healthcare-related work, direct patient care, volunteering, shadowing, and/or undergraduate research is strongly preferred.
  • Computer competence with the ability to proficiently type at 60 wpm or higher.
  • Excellent communication skills in grammatically correct written and verbal English language.
  • Ability to spell, proofread, and edit written English text.
  • Ability to problem solve in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
