Job Summary

University Hospital, Newark NJ is seeking a skilled Mechanical Systems Mechanic II to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance repairs and installation/replacement of machinery, mechanical equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance repairs and installation/replacement of machinery, mechanical equipment and systems under the direction of the Supervisor Maintenance and Construction.
  • Respond and take action on all skilled trade calls when assigned to shifts.
  • Assist in the work direction of other mechanics, trades helpers, and mechanics of other skilled trades.
Requirements
  • Technical school diploma or an equivalent level of knowledge required.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and installation of mechanical systems/equipment in an industrial, education and/or healthcare setting.
  • Sound knowledge of blueprint and schematic reading required, as is thorough knowledge of all applicable (local, state and national) codes.
  • Ability to perform all skilled trades repairs including mechanical equipment/systems, HVAC/R electrical, plumbing and fire alarm systems.
  • New Jersey Black Seal Engineer's License is preferred.
