Job Summary

Vitability Health is seeking a skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our Behavioral Health team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality behavioral health treatment to patients with a wide range of psychiatric disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' mental health conditions through comprehensive evaluations and medical histories.
  • Develop and implement individualized therapeutic plans based on evidence-based standards of care and practice guidelines.
  • Prescribe psychotropic medications and related treatments to improve patients' functional health status.
  • Monitor and evaluate clinical and behavioral outcomes to ensure the effectiveness of treatment plans.
  • Educate patients and their families about psychiatric conditions and provide instructions on proper intervention and treatment.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to manage patients' acute and long-term medical and psychiatric needs.
  • Document medical histories and treatment plans accurately and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Coordinate referrals and access to primary and other healthcare services for patients.
  • Provide consultation and seek consultation from other healthcare professionals to enhance quality and continuity of care.
Requirements
  • BSN, MSN preferred; successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner psychiatric program.
  • Current registered nurse license and certification in New York State.
  • Minimum of three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic or hospital setting, plus at least one year of psychiatric nurse practitioner experience.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, and regulations to provide and evaluate patient care.
  • Knowledge of drug regimens and their indications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, methods, issues, and approaches in psychiatry.
  • Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations as they apply to the advanced practice of nursing.
  • Displays exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team.
