JOB OVERVIEW:
This role is pivotal in the assembly of mechanical and electro-mechanical components, including boards, hardware, and other intricate door products. The individual will be responsible for setting up jobs, soldering components to printed circuit boards, executing re-work, packaging products, and performing additional tasks as necessary.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Proficiently reading and interpreting bills of materials (BOM) to accurately select materials for scheduled work orders.
- Assembling complex mechanical and electro-mechanical units and components using a variety of parts, including electronic components, PC boards, covers, plates, boxes, screws, nuts, and wires.
- Meeting or exceeding production standard rates.
- Operating machinery, hand tools, small power tools, voltage meters, and testing equipment to assemble and test products.
- Reviewing work orders to ensure the availability of necessary materials, tools, equipment, and resources for production tasks.
- Following process sheets to assemble boards and units for both standard and custom orders.
- Working from samples, drawings, blueprints, and verbal instructions. Soldering components and wires to printed circuit boards and completing re-work as needed.
- Stripping, wrapping wires, and connecting units.
- Inserting small components and wires onto printed circuit boards.
- Packaging products and preparing them for shipment, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Attaching identifying labels to finished products and containers as per work instructions.
- Assisting in the movement of materials and products as required.
- Ensuring adherence to assigned production work orders and communicating any deviations promptly.
- Conducting in-process inspections to confirm that products meet specifications and quality standards, reporting any variances to the supervisor.
- Collaborating with Quality Auditors to ensure that all production outputs align with work instruction specifications, aiming to minimize variances and customer complaints.
PRODUCTION RESPONSIBILITY:
Accountable for the efficiency, productivity, and accuracy of assigned production tasks to minimize backlog while consistently meeting or exceeding standard rates.
ATTENDANCE EXPECTATIONS:
- Arriving on time at the start of shifts and after breaks, ready to work immediately.
- Maintaining professional appearance and communication to foster a respectful and team-oriented work environment.
- Supporting cross-training initiatives for production staff and new hires.
- Reporting any safety, sanitation, or equipment concerns immediately.
- Demonstrating continuous improvement in production output and workplace cleanliness.
- Upholding cleanliness, organization, quality control, and safety standards in the work area.
- Adhering to established procedures and operational controls to comply with legal requirements.
- Following safe working practices and utilizing required personal protective equipment.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment, particularly with soldering, is essential.
- Mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand tools, small power tools, and soldering equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and engineering documentation.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to distinguish colors for color-coding tasks.
- Capability to perform detailed repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail with effective planning and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Willingness to work weekends and overtime as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or frequently.
- The role involves frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, turning, reaching, and bending.
- Visual acuity, speech, and hearing, along with hand-eye coordination, are necessary for working with various materials and operating basic office equipment.
