Job Title: Clinical Utilization Review Specialist

Centene Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Utilization Review Specialist to join our Medical Management/Health Services team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our members receive high-quality, medically necessary care.

Job Summary:

The Clinical Utilization Review Specialist will be responsible for conducting clinical reviews and assessments of care related to mental health and substance abuse. This includes evaluating member treatment plans, monitoring care levels, and determining medical appropriateness in accordance with regulatory guidelines and criteria.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate member treatment plans for mental health and substance abuse to ensure medical appropriateness
  • Conduct prior authorization reviews for mental health and substance abuse services
  • Perform concurrent reviews of behavioral health inpatient services to determine overall member health and treatment needs
  • Analyze behavioral health member data to improve quality and utilization of services
  • Provide education to providers, members, and their families regarding behavioral health utilization processes
  • Interact with behavioral health healthcare providers to discuss level of care and services
  • Engage with medical directors and leadership to improve quality and efficiency of care
  • Formulate and present cases in staffing and integrated rounds
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need a Graduate degree in Nursing or a related field, and 2-4 years of related experience. You must also have a license to practice independently and/or have obtained state-required licensure. A Master's degree in Behavioral Health is preferred, as is clinical knowledge and experience working with providers and healthcare teams.
