Job Summary

Community Hospital South is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team. As an ER RN, you will provide direct nursing care to patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. You will work collaboratively with the patient, their family, and other healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and coordinate treatment plans. Your role will involve working as a team member within the entire facility and performing other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide care to patients in the emergency room according to policy and procedure and care standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of medications, equipment, expected patient outcomes, and anticipated complications.
  • Coordinate patient care with multidisciplinary team.
  • Act to protect and advance patient's best interest.
  • Satisfactorily demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties outlined in this job description as well as continually demonstrate competency in performing the job duties.

Accountability:
  • Reports to: Director of Nursing/House Supervisor
  • Supervises: LPN, CNA, CTAs, and Unit Secretaries

Requirements:
  • Licensures & Experience:
    • Current Registered Nurse Licensure with the State of Oklahoma required.
    • Minimum of one year experience in Med-Surg, Emergency, or ICU preferred.
    • BLS Healthcare required within 30 days of hire. ACLS and PALS required within 120 days of hire.
  • Required Physical Demands:
    • Strength (Lift, Carry, Push, Pull): Heavy (exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 lbs to 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects)
    • Standing/Walking: Constantly; activity exists 2/3 or more of the time
    • Keyboard/Dexterity: Occasionally; activity exists up to 1/3 of the time
    • Talking (Must be able to effectively communicate verbally): Yes
    • Seeing: Yes
    • Hearing: Yes
    • Color Acuity: Yes
  • Environmental Conditions:
    • Level: High
      • High exposure to hazardous risks including potential for exposure to infections and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment, and chemicals. Must follow standard precautions. May be required to work weekends or flex schedules. Travel may be required. Exposed to weather conditions during travel. Good mental and physical health to work for long periods of time in a highly stressful atmosphere is required.
