Job Summary

The Foster Care Specialist position provides direction, leadership, and day-to-day management of educational and departmental activities to Foster Parents. This position is responsible for the coordination and organization of the Agency Supported Foster Care program(s). The Foster Care Specialist also supports Foster Parents' well-being by providing resources, education/training, on-call support, and face-to-face visits with both the foster parents and foster children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direction, leadership, and day-to-day management of educational and departmental activities to Foster Parents.
  • Coordinate and organize the Agency Supported Foster Care program(s).
  • Support Foster Parents' well-being by providing resources, education/training, on-call support, and face-to-face visits.
  • Work in a collaborative manner with other company employees, Case Workers, and other professionals using a team approach to provide quality services for foster parents and foster children.
  • Record keeping in compliance with company policies and procedures and as required by NDHHS and future accrediting agency.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in education/training, social work, criminal justice, human services, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in social work, human services, or a related field preferred.
  • Skills/Qualifications including but not limited to:
    • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
    • Teamwork.
    • Demonstrates understanding and empathy for others.
    • Current and valid Driver's License with no more than 3 points assessed.
    • Current auto insurance that meets the minimum automobile liability and medical coverage required by Nebraska law.
    • Excellent training skills using adult learning concepts.
    • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities in a professional and timely manner.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
    • Excellent problem-solving and stress management skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and organization.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
    • Basic computer literacy skills, including PowerPoint, portal, spreadsheets, etc.
