YOUR ROLE AS A SOFTWARE ENGINEER III – SRE


As a Software Engineer III specializing in Site Reliability Engineering, you will collaborate with Software Engineering teams to enhance system reliability continuously.

Your responsibilities will include establishing a comprehensive monitoring and alerting system to track reliability over time and promptly identify customer-impacting issues, ensuring teams operate within their error budgets.

You will provide technical support and guidance on existing software solutions.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Actively support initiatives aimed at simplifying and improving the customer experience.
  • Design and implement new features that are both testable and efficient, adhering to best practices and approved coding standards.
  • Apply object-oriented programming principles and computer science fundamentals to coding tasks.
  • Identify and report defects during code reviews.
  • Contribute to the creation of technical requirements and design documentation.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Debug and enhance existing software as needed.
  • Understand programs based on functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Review and provide feedback on development standards.
  • Serve as an escalation point for resolving incidents and issues in production applications and web services.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, technical teams, and architecture teams to address complex software challenges.
  • Provide system analysis and feedback to general users and management.
  • Influence system design by identifying and recommending enhancements.
  • Mentor and coach junior staff members.
  • Maximize the efficiency of software systems through implementation, monitoring, testing, and auditing.
  • Participate in continuous performance improvement and root cause analysis discussions.
  • Analyze and resolve computer-related issues by coordinating with internal personnel.
  • Adhere to established configuration and change control processes.
  • Assist in reducing operational toil.


QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
  • 1-3+ years in Database Management Systems.
  • 1-3+ years in coding, testing, and software design.
  • 1-3+ years in Software Development Methodologies.

Education:
  • BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in at least one major programming language/tool.
  • Understanding of coding languages, syntax, functions, and object-oriented patterns.
  • Familiarity with environments, Docker images, container runtimes, and cloud-native application development.
  • Knowledge of dependent systems, including APIs, clients, data stores, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of design patterns and frameworks.

Skills:
  • Ability to showcase project and feature-level work to team and technical leadership.
  • Basic negotiation skills.
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures to determine appropriate actions.

Abilities:
  • Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
  • Able to analyze problems of moderate scope requiring a review of various factors.
  • Apply company policies to resolve diverse issues.
