Job Summary:

  • The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will support and assist in providing a holistic, therapeutic, person-centered Memory Care Program on the Memory Care Unit at Alden Park Strathmoor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commit to ongoing growth and development as a knowledgeable and experienced healthcare provider in the area of Alzheimer's dementia and other diseases that cause dementia.
  • Participate in at least 12 hours of continuing education annually to enhance skills and knowledge in dementia care.
  • Become familiar with each individual resident's background, life history, disease, medical and behavioral care needs, and preferences in detail.
  • Utilize communication devices and strategies to ensure effective communication with residents.
  • Assist in planning and implementing a therapeutic, person-centered memory care activity program that enhances the quality of life for each resident.
  • Encourage family involvement through volunteering and visitation opportunities.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and non-hazardous unit environment for residents and staff.
  • Assist in providing individualized symptom management tracking and non-pharmacological interventions as needed.
  • Complete all required documentation and maintain accurate records.
  • Adhere to all program policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
  • Provide feedback to the Memory Care Director on program goals and objectives.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs of residents.
  • Provide emotional support and care to residents, families, and the inter-disciplinary team.
