Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified Trauma Surgery Specialist to join our esteemed medical team. This role involves providing exceptional surgical care in a fast-paced environment, focusing on trauma and acute care cases.
Work Schedule:
The position requires flexibility with shifts, including:
- Tuesday & Wednesday: 7 AM - 7 PM (No Call)
- Thursday to Sunday: 7 AM - 7 PM or 7 PM - 7 AM (No Call)
We can accommodate various scheduling preferences to suit the provider's needs.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Active Pennsylvania State License
- Board Certified in Surgery
- Required Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, BLS, PALS
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Trauma, Acute Care, or Emergency General Surgery
Essential Skills:
The ideal candidate should be proficient in performing procedures such as central lines and chest tubes, as well as have experience in first assisting in the operating room, managing consults, and admissions. Note that this role does not involve outpatient responsibilities or seeing patients of all ages.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Conducting rounds on inpatient services in the morning, followed by documentation of daily notes, including ICU management and hospital discharges.
- First assisting in surgical cases, with an average of 2 cases per day and 1 case per night.
- Responding to trauma alerts and managing new ED and floor consults.
Patient Care:
- Average patient census: 20
- Average admissions: 5 per day
- Patient demographics: 90% adult, 10% pediatric
- Case types include trauma exploratory laparotomies, appendectomies, cholecystectomies, and emergent hernia repairs.
Technical Proficiency:
- Familiarity with Cerner PowerChart EMR system is preferred.
- Credentialing time is estimated at 60-90 days, with no emergency room privileges available.
