Position Title: Inspector
Role SummaryThe Inspector plays a crucial role in identifying and confirming necessary maintenance tasks, interpreting contractual obligations, coordinating subcontractor activities, and ensuring that all work aligns with contract specifications. This position is responsible for ensuring that all contract elements are executed efficiently, effectively, and profitably. The Inspector will conduct audits and report findings to the Maintenance Planner to ensure compliance with operational standards and the Work Plan.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct assessments of infrastructure including pavements, signage, guardrails, tunnels, bridges, drainage systems, fencing, and vegetation.
- Plan and coordinate the execution of maintenance work.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Planner to determine the most effective approach for achieving contract compliance, weighing factors such as cost and efficiency.
- Ensure that personnel involved in project tasks understand the Maintenance Quality Assessment (MQA) requirements.
- Inspect ongoing and completed work to verify adherence to contract specifications and performance benchmarks.
- Identify opportunities for enhancing work methods, processes, efficiency, and cost savings.
- Complete inspections of guardrails, attenuators, and signage.
- Document all MQA failures.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of work reports and timesheets.
- Assist the Maintenance Planner by maintaining current documentation at the job site.
- Prepare additional reports and correspondence as needed.
- Input data into relevant systems to track and document the work plan throughout all phases of operations.
- Support and oversee routine work plan activities such as traffic management and maintenance tasks.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Adhere to legal requirements at federal, state, and local levels to mitigate legal challenges.
- Contribute positively to a diverse and inclusive workplace, free from discrimination and harassment.
- Execute all responsibilities in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
- Strong ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Lead by example, promoting proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols.
- Capability to read, interpret, and apply contractual documents and performance expectations.
- Basic proficiency in mathematical functions and calculations.
- Ability to manage confidential information responsibly.
- Skilled in multitasking with precision, working independently with a focus on detail and organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- General office administration and clerical skills.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- High School Diploma or GED (Mandatory).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction and/or road maintenance (Mandatory).
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record (Mandatory).
- DOT Certifications (Highly Preferred).
Work Environment:
This role may involve exposure to traffic and various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures. Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, high places, and airborne particles may occur. There may also be frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals and insects.
Physical Demands:
The Inspector is regularly required to stand, sit, walk on diverse surfaces, use hands and fingers, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, and communicate effectively. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted is required. Proficiency in using both manual and powered tools is essential. Vision capabilities must include close and distance vision, color perception, and depth perception.
