Job Summary: The Community Service Officer will provide support to the University Police Department by performing various tasks such as escort services, observing and reporting suspicious activity, and giving directions to the campus community. The officer will also be responsible for locking and unlocking university buildings, patrolling the campus and parking structures, and assisting police personnel as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Collect and gather found and lost property and file reports.
  • Assist police personnel as needed.
  • Escort students and staff around campus.
  • Observe and report suspicious activity, hazardous conditions, and/or criminal violations.
  • Give directions and other types of aid to the campus community.
  • Lock and unlock university buildings.
  • Patrool campus and parking structures.

Requirements:
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions and work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels.
  • Ability to read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

License/Certifications:
  • Valid California Driver's License.

Compensation and Benefits: Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.00 per hour. The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.
