This role requires a full onsite presence. Candidates must reside in the greater Chicagoland area.


As a PRN Culinary Support Specialist, you will engage in various functions within the department, including patient meal services, retail operations, sanitation, food transportation and delivery, as well as food preparation.

In this capacity, you will rotate between different facilities as scheduling demands change.

Key Responsibilities:
Handles and serves food in accordance with departmental standards for patients, staff, or visitors during meals or events.

This includes ensuring proper portion sizes and temperatures, as well as reporting any discrepancies to the cook or supervisor.


Maintains the safety and hygiene standards of the department to guarantee food quality, which involves thorough cleaning before and after each task, waste collection and disposal, and operating departmental equipment.

Safely transports and stores food and supplies to uphold quality as per departmental guidelines and under the direction of supervisors.


This includes accurately dating and labeling food for storage, checking in and rotating stock, monitoring storage conditions for temperature and malfunctions, and alerting supervisors to any issues.

Exhibits knowledge of safety protocols and practices in the workplace, as evidenced by a lack of incidents or injuries.


Adheres to established food handling protocols to maintain sanitation and infection control, including wearing gloves, hair coverings, and clean uniforms.

Secures potentially hazardous equipment and supplies to protect patients, visitors, and staff. Promptly informs supervisors of any risks or injuries.

Assists in orienting new team members by demonstrating essential job functions.

May support clerical tasks such as answering phones and maintaining accurate records of production, usage, and temperatures.

Participates actively in departmental training sessions and unit meetings.

Engages in identifying and resolving quality-related issues.


Takes responsibility for understanding and implementing policies and procedures regarding infection control, fire safety, disaster preparedness, and general sanitation and safety principles.

Demonstrates adaptability by taking on additional tasks and responsibilities to meet departmental and organizational objectives.

Complies with the dress code.

Performs other assigned duties as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution

Ability to read, write, perform basic math, and follow both oral and written instructions

Capable of working collaboratively with diverse individuals

Must demonstrate courtesy, discretion, confidentiality, and efficiency in task execution

Must successfully complete the OSHA Respiratory Fit Test

On-the-job training will be provided.
