Job Summary

As a Licensed Vocational Nurse I at Kaiser Permanente, you will provide high-quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician. Your role will involve upholding the organization's policies and procedures, as well as adhering to established standards of care and legal scope of practice.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide Patient Care: Perform patient care functions, including assessing and monitoring patients' conditions, and notifying physicians or healthcare professionals for disposition.
  2. Assist Medical Personnel: Assist with special procedures, minor surgical procedures, and diagnostic exams, as well as prepare and administer medications as directed by physician orders.
  3. Maintain Equipment and Supplies: Maintain equipment and supplies, identify and arrange for equipment needing repair, and apply principles of aseptic technique and infection control.
  4. Document Patient Information: Document pertinent patient information, assessment, and nursing procedures, following established protocols.
  5. Provide Medical Information and Education: Provide medical information and education to patients, following established protocols and guidelines.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Transport Patients: Transport patients to/from designated areas, route specimens to laboratory, and transport laboratory specimens, medical records, laboratory supplies, and materials.
  2. Administrative Tasks: Request charts/medical records, schedule, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments, and initiate follow-up appointments with patients.
  3. Compliance and Integrity: Model and reinforce ethical behavior, adhere to organizational policies and guidelines, and maintain confidences.

  • Vocational Nurse License (California)
  • Basic Life Support
