Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Director to oversee the medical program at our correctional facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services to detainees, while maintaining compliance with policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the success of the healthcare program, including the performance of clinical staff, at assigned facilities.
  • Maintain quality standards for medical records, pharmaceutical practices, and adherence to policies and procedures and standardized procedures.
  • Consult with PAs/FNPs and RNs on conditions outside standardized procedure parameters, perform examinations, and countersign records and orders.
  • Participate in Quality Management and Peer Review meetings, attend administrative meetings, and perform on-call activities as needed.
  • Supervise and train direct reports, including conducting performance evaluations and assisting with job shadowing, orientation, and training of new staff.
Requirements
  • Graduate of accredited medical school.
  • Previous correctional/detention facility experience.
  • At least five years' experience as a Medical Director.
  • Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS and ACLS certification through AHA.
  • Unrestricted current medical license, certification or registration in state of practice - must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.
  • Board Certified/eligible in the field of internal medicine, family practice, or emergency medicine.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration.
