Pennoni, a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm, is seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to join our team in the New York City Metro area. As a Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for preparing site plan development drawings, designing and detailing site layout, removals, grading, utilities, and stormwater management systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare site plan development drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D, incorporating land survey data to ensure compliance with municipal regulations.
  • Design and detail site layout, removals, grading, utilities, and stormwater management systems, including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, erosion control, and sediment control.
  • Ensure regulatory approval by understanding and working with planning and zoning regulations, as well as SEQRA compliance.
  • Comply with New York Metro area standards and local permitting processes, including NYSDEC, NYCDEP, NYCDOB, NYCDOT, NYCDPR, and MTA/NYCT.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist with mentoring junior-level staff and participating in field inspections as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in Civil Engineering, preferably with land development and/or site design projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working on brownfield/land redevelopment projects.
  • Experience with NYSDEC and NYCDEP stormwater management, particularly with hydrology and hydraulics (H&H) modeling tools.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools, including CADD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience with regulatory approvals, including planning and zoning and SEQRA compliance.
  • Proven ability to prepare site plan packages for submission to local jurisdictions.
  • Experience working within assigned budgets and demonstrating excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in basic office software applications, including Microsoft Office 365.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision.
