Key Responsibilities

As a Facilities Engineering Project Coordinator at the CIA, you will deliver customized facilities solutions for internal Agency clients. Our professionals develop, coordinate, and assess civil, electrical, and mechanical standards alongside revitalization projects. Your primary focus will be to create safe, secure, and efficient workspaces that support the Agency's global intelligence objectives.

Entry-level Facilities Engineering Project Coordinators operate under close supervision to oversee and coordinate the tasks of clearly defined facilities projects. In this role, you will engage in various activities related to civil, electrical, and mechanical control and monitoring systems, including: project planning; drafting Statements of Work and cost estimates; executing project plans; tracking costs, schedules, and performance; managing client expectations; identifying potential risks; and conducting quality assurance. Additionally, you will be expected to perform general administrative tasks, stay updated on project management practices, and obtain necessary certifications.

Facilities Engineering Project Coordinators are accountable for one or more project management functions throughout the project lifecycle. Depending on your assignment, you may lead team members and contractors, travel domestically or internationally, and engage in sensitive and high-profile activities to fulfill project goals and client requirements. You may also assist in managing building support services and property management issues for small to medium-sized Agency facilities or engage in procurement activities in collaboration with the designated contracting officer. Additional responsibilities may include overseeing construction management and conducting surveys for structural assessments, electrical, and mechanical systems; managing electrical and/or mechanical appliance programs; or developing, coordinating, and reviewing civil, electrical, and mechanical standards and revitalization projects.

The CIA recruits Facilities Engineering Project Coordinators at various career levels, from entry to senior positions.

This role requires a commitment to serve wherever mission needs arise. You must maintain a readiness to travel and relocate to meet both short-term and long-term organizational demands. A willingness to travel internationally, including to challenging locations, is essential.

Qualifications

  • You must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years of age (dual-national U.S. citizens are eligible).
  • You must be willing to relocate to the Washington, DC area.
  • You must successfully complete a thorough medical and psychological examination, a polygraph interview, and a comprehensive background investigation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • One (1) year of experience demonstrating expertise in facilities project management, focusing on project planning, resource allocation, cost tracking, task delegation, and timeline oversight.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Robust analytical capabilities.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building codes, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, and familiarity with information technology, mechanical, electrical, or communication systems.
  • Ability to meet the minimum requirements for joining the CIA, including U.S. citizenship and a background investigation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Professional Engineer's (PE) license.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields or related disciplines:
    • Civil Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Industrial Engineering
  • Related degree with a focus on facilities management or relevant work experience.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale is preferred, although exceptions may be made for extenuating circumstances.
