Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The role encompasses both maintenance and housekeeping responsibilities within the hotel, focusing on addressing guest maintenance requests, executing assigned engineering tasks, and conducting preventative upkeep. Additionally, the position involves providing janitorial support to ensure all shared spaces are consistently clean and well-maintained.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain cleanliness in common areas, restrooms, and workspaces.
  • Carry out maintenance tasks such as installing pictures, mirrors, and light fixtures.
  • Ensure all maintenance issues are addressed promptly and effectively.
  • Perform basic carpentry and furniture repairs as needed.
  • Oversee the pool area, including taking readings, replenishing towels, and cleaning.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in basic Building Services Engineering tasks, including wall repairs, tile work, grouting, caulking, plastering, and painting.
  • Manage the operational integrity of the facility’s interior and exterior, including plumbing, HVAC, structural maintenance, and grounds care.
  • Utilize cleaning equipment to maintain furnishings, floors, and carpets.
  • Assist housekeeping with laundry tasks and ensure timely removal of linens.
  • Conduct property inspections to verify cleanliness, functionality, and security.
  • Restock supplies in guest accommodations.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as required, including changing linens and disposing of trash.
  • Collect and dispose of waste in designated areas.
  • Complete cleaning and maintenance requests as directed by management.
  • Clear snow from walkways when necessary.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness by sweeping and mopping as needed.
  • Support bellman duties as required.
  • Ensure cleanliness of lounge areas and countertops.
  • Address guest inquiries and resolve any concerns.
  • Maintain hotel security by reporting any suspicious activity to management.
  • Participate in mandatory meetings and hotel events.
  • Report any wear and tear of furniture or equipment, as well as safety issues, to management.
  • Adhere to all company policies and standards as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

EQUIPMENT USED:

Electrical and manual tools necessary for maintenance tasks.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A combination of education and experience is acceptable.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience in a hotel setting is preferred but not mandatory.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, and painting is essential.
  • Familiarity with safety codes and proper tool usage is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Capable of bending, stooping, walking, and climbing ladders.
  • Must be able to see, hear, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to navigate the property to assess and address maintenance issues.
  • Physically capable of performing repairs as necessary.
