Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our Family Medicine team at Corewell Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing clinical support to our healthcare professionals, ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate efficient and effective patient flow, preparing patients for visits and providing specific services and education as determined by providers.
- Perform administrative duties to ensure accurate and up-to-date information, including maintenance and monitoring of electronic health records.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment, work area, and equipment, and communicate any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
- Communicate with patients and their families in a caring and respectful manner, ensuring their needs are met.
- Collect and monitor patient data, reporting patient needs as directed, and document care according to documentation guidelines.
- Engage in process and quality improvement activities, making recommendations to improve operational efficiency and implement new services.
- Participate in continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements, to maintain professional competence and knowledge.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program required.
- 1 year of relevant experience working in a physician practice or healthcare setting preferred.
- AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA), NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), or NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) certification required within 120 days.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 120 days.
Work Environment
This role is located at Corewell Health's South Pavilion site in Grand Rapids, working in a fast-paced Family Medicine department. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, communicate with patients and staff, and maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity.
